EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR CONSULTANCY SERVICES TO CARRY OUT MATERIAL TESTING SERVICES FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF SAFETY OF EXISTING BUILDINGS. |
The State Department for Public Works invites consultants to express their interest for material testing services for assessment of safety of existing buildings. The construction industry translates National social economic policies into social and economic infrastructure and buildings thereby contributing to wealth and employment creation. The development of an efficient, productive, cost effective and environmental friendly construction industry is therefore critical for improving the quality of life for the Kenya populace. This calls for a comprehensive audit of all buildings in order to determine those that are habitable and those that are subject of collapse.
The specific tasks under this consultancy will include:
- Determine dangerous or unsafe buildings which might require demolition.
- Determine buildings which can be rehabilitated to meet safety and performance criteria
iii. Determine buildings which meet safety and performance criteria
- Train National building inspectorate staff on material testing service to enhance and transfer skills.
- Undertake relevant field and laboratory tests for compilation of data to be used in assessment of structural safety of existing buildings by carrying out non-destructive and destructive testing.
The assignment is for an estimated period of Twelve months.
The State Department for Public Works now invites eligible Consultancy firms to express their interest in providing the consultancy services. Interested consultancy firms must provide information indicating that they have qualified staff to undertake this consultancy. They should provide brochures, description of similar assignments undertaken, valid tax compliance certificate and evidence of financial capacity to undertake the works. The information should include names and addresses of at least 2 clients that the consultancy firm has worked with in the past 5years.
Consultants will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the Public Procurement and Disposal Act 2015 and Regulations 2020. Expression of interest should be submitted in a plain envelop clearly marked Expression of interest for Consultancy Services to carry out material testing services for the assessment of safety of existing buildings
Interested consultancy firms may obtain further information and details from the address below, or at Head Supply Chain Management Services- 9th Floor Works building during office hours 0800H to 1700H from Monday to Friday except public holidays in Kenya.
Expression of interest must be received at the address below not later than September 7th , 2021 at 12.30 pm or be deposited in the tender box located on 5th floor Works building.
