INVITATION FOR PREQUALIFICATION

INVITATION FOR PREQUALIFICATION
1. The Coast Water Works Development Agency (CWWDA) has received funds from Agence Française
de Développement (“AFD”) toward the cost of the Improvement of Drinking Water and Sanitation
Systems in Mombasa, Mwache CKE 1103 and it intends to apply part of the funds to payments under
the contract for Lot 1 – Construction of the Mwache Trunk Main (Section 1), South Mainland Transmisison
Main and Dongo Kundu Reservoir, Contract No. CWWDA/AFD/PQ/W4/2022-2023.
2. The Employer intends to prequalify firms for the Works which comprise of the following Components:
i) Construction of the Mwache Trunk Main (Section 1) comprising of Twin Pipelines, DN 1000, each
2.9km length, made of Steel Pipes or Ductile Iron Pipes
ii) Construction of South Mainland Transmission Pipeline (total length 27.8km comprising of DN1000
section 21.9km and DN 900 section 5.9km) made of Steel Pipes or Ductile Iron Pipes, including
approximately 15m wide crossing over Mwache Sea Creek.
iii) Construction of 2Nr Reinforced Concrete Tanks at Dongo Kundu, capacity 14,000m3 each and Ancillary
Works including Chlorination Facilities.
iv) Supply and Installation of Instrumentation for the above Pipelines and Reservoirs to be included in
the Overall SCADA System to be installed by another Contractor (Water Treatment Plant Contractor
under a different Contract)
It is expected that invitations for bid will be made between 2023 and 2024.
3. Interested eligible Applicants may obtain further information from and inspect the prequalification documents
at the Coast Water Works Development Agency (CWWDA) (address below) during working
hours (from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Kenyan time) from Monday to Friday except during lunch time
(12:30pm – 2:00pm), weekends and public holidays. A complete set of the prequalification documents in
English language may be purchased by interested Applicants on the submission of a written application
at the address below upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of Kshs. 1,000 (Kenya Shillings One Thousand
Only). The method of payment will be cash payment or bank cheque. The Bidding Documents
will be collected from the address below upon production of a purchase receipt or be downloaded free
of charge from our website www.cwwda.go.ke or The Kenyan National Treasury Procurement Portal, and
immediately email the firms’ names and contact details to: procurement@cwwda.go.ke for records and
communication of any tender clarifications or addenda.
4. Applications for prequalification should be submitted in clearly marked sealed envelopes, delivered to the
address below by 16th May 2023, and be clearly marked “Application to Prequalify for Lot 1 – Construction
of the Mwache Trunk Main (Section 1), South Mainland Transmisison Main and Dongo
Kundu Reservoir, Contract No. CWWDA/AFD/PQ/W4/2022-2023”.
