SUPPLY OF MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION OF POWER DISTRIBUTION NETWORK IN KALOBEYEI, TURKANA COUNTY
The Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit [GIZ] GmbH is currently implementing the Energy Solutions for Displacement Settings [ESDS] project in Turkana County.
As part of ESDS activities, GIZ intends to award a contract for the extension of existing Medium Voltage [MV] and Low Voltage [LV] distribution networks and subsequent substations in Kalobeyei Host community in Turkana West sub-County.
The scope of work includes:
- Review of the designs and Bill of Quantities [BoQ] together with the Client and Supervision Engineer.
- Procurement and transporting to site of all the required materials and equipment in collaboration with the supervision engineer while maintaining quality and approved technical specifications.
- Deployment of equipment, materials, and staff on site for the construction works.
- Construction of the Medium Voltage [MV] and Low Voltage [LV] network with subsequent substations while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Testing and commissioning of the Power Distribution Network [PDN] together with the Supervision Engineer.
To qualify for consideration in the tender procedure, interested companies MUST be based in Kenya and are required to submit the following information and documents for eligibility assessment:
- a)The contractor Must provide the following information
- i)Official letter expressing interest
- ii)Proof of legal business entity incorporated in Kenya with at least 5 years of operation supported by certificate of incorporation and valid CR12 certificate and declaration of a consortium if any.
iii) Provide financial standing/ Annual turnover for over KES 50,000,000 for the last three years supported by audit reports.
- iv)Company profile including number of employees (permanent / temporary in total] and number of professional staff qualified to perform the work
- v)Copy of valid EPRA Class B license and above to carry out work on electricity supply lines.
- vi)Copy of Valid National Construction Authority registration for categories between NCA1 and NCA 6 vii. Copy of valid EPRA Class B license and above to carry out work on electricity supply lines.
- b)Provide the following details of construction works completed within the last five [5] years in Kenya giving details i.e., Scope of work, value of the projects in KES and contacts of clients.
- i)Experience in construction testing and commissioning of medium and low voltage distribution networks i
- ii)Experience in procurement of MV and LV line construction materials and access to relevant tools and equipment through direct ownership or lease
iii) Experience in MV and LV distribution network design review
- iv)Reference of similar projects valued above KES.5,000,000 in the last 3 Years with award letters and completion certificates.
- c)The contractor Must have regional experience working in East Africa
