PROVISION OF MILLING SERVICES IN MOMBASA AND NAIROBI, KENYA.
The United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP] is the food-assistance agency of the United Nations and is the world’s largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger and promoting food security.
In order to complement its operations in Kenya, UNWFP seeks to engage companies with the pre-requisite capacity to store, mill, handle, bag and load for subsequent inland transport, wheat grain imported by UNWFP.
The companies to be engaged will need to comply with the following minimum listed below.
- Have a minimum of 3 years operational experience.
- Geographical location of the milling plant should either be in Mombasa or Nairobi County. Millers based in Thika town of Kiambu County will also be considered.
- Milling capacity of 1,000 mt per day [wheat flour output].
- In possession of any of the following certification.
– 1309001:2015
– 130 2200:2018
– FSSC-22000
- Have an inhouse laboratory for analytical testing.
- Sufficient warehouse space for storage of grain and milled flour [capacity of 2,500 mt].
- Capacity to initiate a lead time of 24-48 hrs of having a finished product after arrival of grain and bags markings.
- Capacity to undertake fortification and addition of micronutrients to the final product.
- Capacity to take custody and arrange for disposal using relevant internal procedures of the bran extracted from the milling process.
- Capacity to achieve 80% conversion rate from grain to milled flour.
UNWFP invites qualified milling companies who are duly registered and authorized in accordance with prevailing laws in Kenya to submit their information for consideration for shortlisting.
