MONITORING OF MARKET DEVELOPMENT INTERVENTIONS CONSULTANT

About Habitat for Humanity and the Terwilliger Centre:
Habitat for Humanity’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter (TCIS) aims to address the global housing deficit by fostering inclusive housing markets. In Kenya, TCIS has been working for five years to catalyze the housing market system through interventions in construction labor, materials, finance, and behavior change. The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) framework supports this mission by tracking systemic market changes through data collection and reporting.

Purpose of the Assignment:
The assignment involves expanding existing monitoring systems and regularly collecting data to assess the results of past and current interventions. The consultant will help implement the MEAL framework by revising and developing tools for data collection and reporting on qualitative and quantitative results.

Scope of Work:

  • Revise existing and create new qualitative and quantitative monitoring tools.
  • Conduct monthly data collection (quantitative and qualitative), quality audits, analysis, and reporting.
  • Prepare reports and slide decks summarizing findings for internal stakeholders.

Expected Deliverables:

  • A data collection plan with responsibilities and timelines.
  • Collected and analyzed data on market system changes.
  • Monthly reports with insights and adjustments made to the process.
  • At least two draft reports and presentations for internal stakeholders.
  • A final report with lessons learned and recommendations for improvement.
  • Consultancy Management:
    The assignment will be managed by the Senior Specialist MEAL in Kenya, with support from the Global TCIS Data Analyst.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • A degree in social sciences, research, statistics, or related fields.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in data collection, research, and results monitoring.
  • Experience in developing MEAL tools, data analysis, audits, and report presentation.
  • Familiarity with market-based systems approaches.
  • Safeguarding and Data Protection:
    The consultant will be required to adhere to Habitat for Humanity’s safeguarding and data protection policies.
