CONSULTANCY SERVICES FOR IMPROVING MATERNAL AND NEWBORN HEALTH PROJECT AT ELGEYO MARAKWET AND KERICHO COUNTIES
The Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been entrusted by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to carry out technical cooperation initiatives on behalf of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany. Since 1975, GIZ has been collaborating with national, international and private sector partners in Kenya, with its national offices based in the capital, Nairobi. The organization’s priority areas include:
- Sustainable economic development and employment promotion
- Agriculture and food security
- Renewable energy and climate change
The project titled “Improving Maternal and Newborn Health and Reducing Preventable Deaths of Mothers and Babies in Kenya” aims to improve health outcomes for pregnant women, mothers and neonates in Elgeyo Marakwet and Kericho counties. This initiative specifically addresses the critical issue of maternal and neonatal mortality, which remains alarmingly high in Kenya.
To ensure the successful execution of this project, GIZ is seeking the services of a consultancy firm specializing in Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH). The firm will be responsible for overseeing the project’s implementation through quality assurance, coordination and stakeholder engagement. Key responsibilities will include conducting training for Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs) and Community Health Promoters (CHPs), overseeing the scoping of necessary Emergency, Triage Assessment and Treatment support equipment for level 3-5 healthcare facilities under the project partnership, assisting with the digitalization of MNH services and ensuring full compliance with relevant healthcare regulations and data protection policies.
