CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR NOMINATION INTO THE APPELLATE BODY OF THE AFCFTA DISPUTE SETTLEMENT BODY
Article 20 of the Agreement Establishing the AfCFTA establishes a Dispute Settlement Mechanism which shall be administered by a Dispute Settlement Body (the “DSB”) established under Article 5 of the Protocol on Rules and Procedures on the Settlement of Disputes to have oversight over the dispute settlement mechanism. Article 20

Qualifications
For appointment into the Appellate Body, a candidate must have the following qualifications:
- Have recognized authority with demonstrated expertise in law, international trade and the subject matter of the AfCFTA Agreement
- Persons of high caliber with demonstrable expertise, experience and unimpeachable integrity;
- Abreast of dispute settlement activities and other relevant activities of the AfCFTA;
- Fluent in any of the Official languages of the African Union
- Have a Master Degree in Law, Commercial Law or International Trade or a PhD in Law or International Commercial Law
- Have at least ten (10) years’ experience in the field of law or international trade law

- Candidates may submit manual (hand copy) or electronic (online) applications;
- All applications should be submitted together with detailed Curriculum Vitae, a copy of ID/Passport, copies of academic certificates, testimonials and any other relevant supporting documents;
