COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS MANAGEMENT FOR THE AFRICA CLIMATE SUMMIT
The Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Foreign Office (AA) to support the organization of the Africa Climate Summit co-hosted by the AU (African Union) and Kenya from 4th – 6th September 2023 in Nairobi.
The ACS will bring together leaders from Africa and beyond; development partners; intergovernmental organisations; private sector; academia; :civil society organisations; women and youth to design and catalyse actions and solutions for climate change in Africa by providing a platform to “deliberate on the nexus between climate change, Africa’s development reality, and the need to push for increased investment in climate action globally, and specifically in Africa.
GIZ is seeking for an experienced Communications and Public Relations company to technically support the Summit Secretariat and the President to plan and execute communications and public relations for the Summit to ensure the right messages reach the right audience through the right channels at the right time.
Interested firms’ consultants must have Graduate degree in relevant subjects i.e., in marketing, communications, international relations, journalism development studies or related field. Excellent English proficiency is required, and knowledge of other African Union languages is beneficial. The firm/agency needs at least 10 years of experience coordinating regional public relations, campaigns and developing and implementing communication strategies for multinational/regional companies/organisations. Strong leadership and management skills, along with subject matter expertise in climate change and sustainability, are necessary. International/regional experience and proficiency in working with media and web-based communication tools is preferred.
To qualify, the bidders (could be an individual company, or a consortium of companies) must provide a brief profile of themselves and be able to meet and demonstrate (with proof) the following eligibility criteria. Note that a separate eligibility criteria grid is provided with this ToR.
Legal business entity incorporated in Kenya with at least 5 years operation supported by:
- The Certificate of Incorporation (registration)
- Tax Compliance Certificate
- Clearance from the relevant security agencies
- If the bidder is a consortium, a clear declaration of the same.
- Average annual turnover for the last 3 financial years of KES 140,000,000
- Minimum of 20 employees (for companies)
Demonstrable relevant experience of at least 3 similar assignments in terms of type and magnitude with references providing assignment details preferably in the table format below. The bidder is expected to provide project references with a minimum commission value of KES 30,000,000
