PROCUREMENT OF WORKS

CONSTRUCTION FOR MWALA CLUSTER WATER SUPPLY PROJECT

  1. This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice (GPN) for this project that appeared in UNDB online on 31st March 2017.
  2. The Government of Kenya has received financing from the African Development Bank in various currencies to­wards the cost of Kenya Towns Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Program. It is intended that part of the proceeds of this loan will be applied to eligible payments under the contract for construction of Mwala Cluster Water Supply Project
  3. The Athi Water Works Development Agency now invites sealed Bids from eligible Bidders for the execution of the following works:
  4. a)Construction of 1.65m high RC Weir at Munyu area across river Ndarugu
  5. b)Construction of 4.2km of DN500mm Raw Water Pipeline
  6. c)Construction of a conventional Munyu Water Treatment Works 6,600 m3/day
  7. d)Construction of 120km of water pipelines of various diameters
  8. e)Construction of Water Storage Tanks of various capacities
  9. Bidding will be conducted through the Open Competitive Bidding (International), OCBI procedures as specified in the African Development Bank’s Procurement Framework, and is open to all eligible Bidders as defined in the Procurement Framework.
  10. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from the office of The Chief Executive Officer, Athi Water Works Development Agency, and inspect the bidding document during office hours 8.00am to 5.00pm (East African Time) on weekdays except public holidays at the address given below.
  11. The bidding document in English may be purchased by interested eligible Bidders upon the submission of a writ­ten application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of KES 1,000.00. The method of payment will be cash or Banker’s Cheque. Tender documents obtained electronically will be free of charge. Documents can also be downloaded from the AWWDA website: www.awwda.go.ke and www.tenders.go.ke, Bidders who download the bidding document from the website MUST forward their particulars immediately to procurement@awwda.go.ke, for records and any further clarifications and addenda.
  12. Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before 10.00am East African Time on 2nd June, 2023. Elec­tronic bidding will not be permitted. Late Bids will be rejected. Bids will be publicly opened in the presence of the Bidders’ designated representatives and anyone who chooses to attend at the address below on 10.05am East African Time on 2nd June, 2023.
  13. A Pre-Bid meeting shall take place on 4th May, 2023 at 08:00am EAT and will be at the Athi Water Works Devel­opment Agency Offices, Athi Water Plaza, Muthaiga North Road.
  14. All Bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security of KES. 2,600,000.00 (Kenya Shillings Two Million, Six Hundred Thousand Only) in the form of an unconditional bank guarantee.
  15. Attention is drawn to the Procurement Framework requiring the Borrower to disclose information on the success­ful bidder’s beneficial ownership, as part of the Contract Award Notice, using the Beneficial Ownership Disclosure Form as included in the bidding document.
