CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS WITH SIDE DRAINS AND FOOTPATHS TO BITUMEN STANDARDS, STREET LIGHTING, WATER SUPPLY DISTRIBUTION AND SANITATION

COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF THARAKA NITHI TENDER JANUARY 2024 

REQUEST FOR BIDS FOR SMALL WORKS

1. The Government of Kenya has received financing from the World Bank towards the cost of the Second Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project [KISIP 2), and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS WITH SIDE DRAINS AND FOOTPATHS TO BITUMEN STANDARDS, STREET LIGHTING, WATER SUPPLY DISTRIBUTION AND SANITATION IN SELECTED INFORMAL SETTLEMENTS OF KATHWANA AND MARIMANTI IN THARAKA NITHI COUNTY

The scope of works include but not limited to:

1. Construction of 1.006 km Bitumen Standard Roads in the two [2] informal settlements in Tharaka Nithi County;
2. Construction of drainage systems for all the roads as per the road layouts;
3. Laying 10.8 km of Distribution pipelines 0D50-0D160 and 300 No. consumer connections;
4. Set up of 2 No. elevated steel tanks;
5. Set up of two [2] No. Ablution Blocks in Marimanti and Kathwana informal settlements;
6. Install All In One (Integrated) Solar Street Light complete with all accessories and spaced at 30m pole to pole distance
7. The County Government of Tharaka Nithi now invites sealed Bids from eligible Bidders for Road Construction; Water; and Sanitation Infrastructure. The construction period is 12 Months.
8. Bidding will be conducted through National Competitive Bidding [NCB] using a Request for Bids [RFB] as specified in the World Bank’s “Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers” in accordance with the requirements in the Procurement Regulations for Borrowers under IPF: Goods, Works, Non-Consulting Services and Consulting Services dated July 1,2016 [revised November 2017 and August 2018) and provisions stipulated in the Financing Agreement.
9. The project will also be subject to the World Bank’s Anti-Corruption Guidelines, dated July 1,2016, Procurement Regulations, and is open to all Bidders as defined in the Procurement Regulations.
10. Interested eligible Bidders may obtain further information from Tharaka Nithi County Government Headquarters Offices- Kathwana, Procurement Office and inspect the bidding document during office hours 0900 to 1700 hours at the address given below on clause 10 at the end of this RFB.

6. Completed bid documents are to be enclosed in a plain sealed envelope marked with the bid name and number and be deposited in the tender box at the Tharaka Nithi County headquarters and if sent by post be addressed to,

7. Electronic Bidding will not be permitted. Late Bids will be rejected. Bids will be publicly opened in the presence of the Bidders’ designated representatives and anyone who chooses to attend at the address below [Clause 10 at the end of this RFB) at 11.00am 22nd January, 2024.
8. All Bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security in form of Bank Guarantee of Kenya Shillings Three Million, Nine Hundred Thousand [KES. 3,900,000) from a Reputable Bank.
