UPPER TANA CATCHMENT NATURAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT PROJECT 

CONSTRUCTION OF THREE WATER HARVESTING STRUCTURES IN THARAKA-NITHI COUNTY

The Government of Kenya has received financial assistance from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) towards financing the Upper Tana Catchment Natural Resources Management Project. The project completion date is 31st December 2022 and the closure date is 30th June 2023. The goal of the project is to contribute to rural poverty reduction in the Upper Tana Catchment and the project objectives are;

1. a)Increased sustainable food production and incomes; and
2. b)Sustainable management of natural resources for provision of environmental services.

The Project Lead Agency is the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation. The Project is being implemented in six (6) Counties namely Murang’a, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Meru.

Towards accomplishing its objectives, the Upper Tana Catchment Natural Resources Management Project (UTaNRMP) intends to use part of the funds to procure the works in water harvesting.

The project now invites sealed tenders for: Tender No. MWSI/UTaNRMP/NCB/003/2022-2022 for – CONSTRUCTION OF THREE WATER HARVESTING STRUCTURES IN THARAKA-NITHI COUNTY as follows:

Lot 1 – 4,000M3 Capacity Makanyanga concrete dam

Lot 2 – Upendo rock catchment with 225m3 storage tank

Lot 3 – Tharaka University college rainwater harvesting structures with a storage pan of approximately14,000m3.

Completed tender documents in a plain sealed envelope and clearly marked with the respective tender number and title should be addressed and sent to:

or dropped in the Tender Box situated at the main entrance to the EMBU West Water office located along Embu-Meru Road opposite Kangaru DEB Primary School or posted so as to reach the above address on or before 11:00AM on 2nd March 2022.

Due to Covid -19 MOH protocols, tenderers will not be invited for a physical opening. The opening will be through virtual platform immediately after the deadline date and time specified above. Tenderers are therefore requested to register with utanrmp@gmail.com at least one day before the tender opening in order to be sent the link for the virtual tender opening meeting.

Late tenders will not be accepted regardless of the circumstances.
