CONSULTANCY FOR FORMATIVE FEMINIST RESEARCH ON SOCIAL NORMS AROUND PAID AND UNPAID CARE INFRASTRUCTURE IN KENYA

Oxfam is seeking a qualified consultant or consultancy firm to undertake formative feminist research on social norms surrounding paid and unpaid care infrastructure, focusing on under-age girls, elderly women, and LGBTQI+ domestic workers in Kenya. This research will contribute to Oxfam’s Time to Care project, aimed at improving gender equality and care infrastructure for women and girls in Kenya. The findings will inform strategies for shifting harmful narratives and advancing gender-transformative policies and practices.
Key Objectives of the Research:
- Understand the social norms around the engagement of under-age girls and elderly women in care work.
- Explore intersectionality within the care sector, focusing on the experiences of LGBTQI+ domestic workers and migrant workers.
- Assess the impact of these norms and practices on the lives and rights of the target groups.
Requirements:
- Experience in research focused on the care economy and gender equality, particularly using feminist methodologies.
- Proven ability in policy analysis and qualitative data collection, including participatory methods.
- Strong communication and report writing skills in English and Kiswahili.
