CALL FOR OFFERS

CONSULTANCY ON STRENGTHENING SELF-ORGANISATION AND ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT OF RURAL YOUTH IN WESTERN KENYA

The Deutsche Geseilschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH implements the initiative Agri-Jobs 4 Youth commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The initiative’s objective is to increase qualification, income and employment opportunities in the agri-food sector in Western Kenya with a special focus on youth and women.

 

Agri-Jobs 4 Youth is supporting the formation and strengthening of rural youth organisations in the Counties of Bungoma, Siaya, Kakamega, Kisumu, Vihiga. Partnering organisations, comprised of representatives of rural producer groups as well as young agricultural service providers, currently are at different levels of self-organisation (two at formation stage and three at growth stage with approx. 500 members each). They shall be supported to provide youth-friendly agricultural services to members, to enhance their economic and political participation in the Counties and to improve their livelihoods through more and better employment opportunities In the agri-food sector. By supporting these organisations, Agri-Jobs 4 Youth aims at fostering an enabling entrepreneurial ecosystem at grassroots level.

 

Consultancy firms or NGOs interested to support this component should have a team with academic backgrounds in Agribusiness Management, Business and Organisational Management or Social Science; professional experience in Rural Development, Capacity and Organisational Development, Corporate Governance, Advocacy, Business Development and Economic Empowerment Prior experience in Development Cooperation will be an asset Interested consultancy firms or NGOs must provide verifiable proof of qualifications and experience in similar/related services. The tenderer is also requested to provide a summary assessment of the team proposed and must specify their positions, tasks and qualifications for each expert More details are provided in the Terms of Reference (ToR).

Deadline for Offer Submission 11.08.2021 @ 1600hrs (East African time). Failure to address correctly will lead to disqualification. Bidders are not allowed to contact or discuss any aspect of the tender with GIZ personnel before closing of the tender as it will lead to automatic disqualification
