Project Measures and requested Consultant Services |
A floating solar photovoltaic (FPV) project with a capacity of approx.40 MWp is currently being developed by KenGen. The Consultant is requested to carry out a detailed feasibility study and to assess the technical, financial, environmental and social feasibility of the FPV power plant, to be installed on Kamburu hydropower plant reservoir. German bilateral Financial Cooperation (FC) funds are earmarked for this Project, which is being implemented by the German Development Bank (KfW). The overall objective of this assignment is to prepare a feasibility study which is detailed enough to form a basis for project financing and to initiate Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) negotiations. |
Team Profile | The Consultant needs to be adequately qualified for this interdisciplinary assignment. As a general requirement, the Consultant shall have adequate education, professional knowledge and experience in handling similar tasks in the past. The Consultant must have a proven track record in the photovoltaic sector with a focus on the construction, operation and maintenance of floating and land-based solar PV power plants. A team comprising of various experts with relevant expertise and other professional as well as administrative support staff shall provide the services. Efficient management and backstopping services shall be made available. |

Contract | The contract will follow KfW´s specimen contract. The selection of experienced Consultants is subject to the regulations contained in the latest version of the “Guidelines for the Procurement of Consulting Services, Works, Plant, Goods and Non-Consulting Services in Financial Cooperation with Partner Countries” available at www.kfw-entwicklungsbank.de |
Financing | The pre-conditions for payments for this assignment have not yet been finalized. Any contractual commitment related to this procurement process is subject to the availability of funds for this assignment. |
