Early Impact Assessment On Enhancing Access And Use Of Crop Specific Fertilizer Among Small Holder Farmers In Kenya

KENYA MARKETS TRUST (KMT)

CONSULTANCY OPPORTUNITY

AN EARLY IMPACT ASSESSMENT ON ENHANCING ACCESS AND USE OF CROP SPECIFIC FERTILIZER AMONG SMALL HOLDER FARMERS IN KENYA

Kenya Markets Trust (KMT) is Kenyan non-profit organisation that works in partnership with the private sector, county and national government to unleash large scale, sustainable market growth by changing the underlying incentives, capacities and rules that shape how markets work. We work in three sectors, namely: livestock, water and agricultural inputs.

KMT agricultural inputs Sector developed a strategy that aims at incentivising key fertilizer companies to explore innovations for commercial fertilizer distribution as well as other models that will shift the companies from overdependence on the government subsidized fertilizer supply systems and close the supply gap. This opportunity is further strengthened by the increased behavior change at the farmers’ level, as most are demonstrating willingness to purchase fertilizer commercially

KMT is looking for a firm/consultant to undertake an impact assessment to demonstrate benefits arising from use of crop specific fertilizers, validate impact numbers reported under the pilot, provide evidence that shall form the basis of future reporting (e.g. impact numbers and income multipliers, overlap adjustments, etc.), generate learnings from the pilot which will be useful in the scale up phase, showcase sustainability aspects of the intervention among others.
