ENDLINE STUDY FOR THE TRACEABLE ORGANIC COFFEE FROM KENYA PROJECT

Solidaridad is seeking consultancy firms/companies to conduct an endline study for the Traceable Organic Coffee from Kenya (TRACE Kenya) Project. The project is designed to support smallholder coffee farmers in Kenya by promoting organic farming practices and improving livelihoods through enhanced coffee production, market access, and job creation. The endline evaluation aims to assess the impact of the project and provide actionable recommendations to inform future programming.

Consultancy Objectives:

• Assess the extent to which the project achieved its intended outcomes, especially in terms of productivity, income, and resilience among smallholder coffee farmers.
• Evaluate the relevance and contribution of the project to the coffee sector, including adoption of innovations and technologies.
• Examine the effectiveness and appropriateness of strategies, approaches, and modalities employed.
• Identify major challenges, lessons learned, and recommendations for future initiatives.
• Evaluate the sustainability of the interventions post-project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop endline survey tools, including questionnaires and checklists for data collection.
• Conduct fieldwork, including interviews, participatory meetings, and household surveys.
• Analyze collected data and prepare comprehensive reports.
• Present findings and submit a final report with recommendations.

Consultant Requirements:

• A Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Agriculture, Development Studies, or related fields.
• Proven expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
• Strong experience in conducting impact studies, especially within the coffee sector or smallholder farming in East Africa.
• Experience with statistical analysis and proficiency in data analysis software.
• Excellent communication skills in both English and Swahili.
• A track record of successful endline studies and evaluations, particularly in agricultural projects.
