EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EIO) FOR LEASING AND OPERATING TAVETA BANANA PROCESSING FACTORY IN MBOGHONI WARD TAVETA SUB COUNTY TAITA TAVETA COUNTY

COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF TAITA TAVETA TENDER 2021 

The county government of Taita Taveta with Co-funding from European Union is constructing a modern banana factory in Mboghoni ward Taveta Sub County. The factory is due for completion in August 2021. The finished factory will have a ripening chamber, spacious factory building capable of accommodating both dry and wet banana processing lines.

The country government therefore invites bids from eligible firms with necessary experience and resources to manage and run the facility/factory.

Scope of assignment

1. Add value to bananas by Processing into puree, flour or crisps.
2. Competitively buy raw bananas and other raw materials from Taita Taveta county farmers.
3. Source labor personnel from within the County unless the expertise is not available locally.
4. Maintain and service all the facilities of the plant. Responsible for the renovation, maintenance and improvement expenses and costs of the occupied office space.
5. To use the premises strictly for the purpose leased unless with prior written consent from the County.
6. Responsible for the payment of all utility bills.

Eligibility and Qualification of Bidders

The EOI must be accompanied with the following documents

1. Certified copy of registration certificate/ incorporation in Kenya.
2. CR12 for limited companies issued in the last six months.
3. Valid Business Permit
4. Valid tax compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
5. Certified copy of audited financial statements for the last three years (2017,2018 and 2019)
6. Certified company profile including information on organization, technical and logical capability to undertake the assignment
7. Approval to operate a banana processing plant from the Competent Authority and other relevant bodies.
8. Not to be insolvent, in receivership, bankrupt, subject to legal proceedings for any of these circumstances or in the process of being wound up.
9. Proof of at least 5 years of experience in banana processing, management and marketing of banana and banana products.

Shortlisting of bidders for subsequent processes shall be based on the above information.

The bid document should be deposited in the tender box situated at TAITA TAVETA COUNTY HEADQUARTERS OFFICE MWATATE-TREASURY BUILDING so as to be received on or before 24^th MARCH 2021 at 11.00AM. The EOls shall be opened immediately thereafter in the presence of bidders or their representatives who choose to attend. Late bids shall be rejected.
