PROCUREMENT OF 33KV & 66KV SYSTEM REINFORCEMENT & SUBSTATION UPGRADE – KPLC

KENYA POWER AND LIGHTING COMPANY PLC TENDER NOVEMBER 2022 

Invitation for Bids (IFB)

1. The Government of Kenya has received credit from the African Development Bank (AfDB)
towards the cost of the Last Mile Connectivity Project (LMCP). It is intended that part of the
proceeds of this credit will be applied to eligible payments under the contract.
2. The Kenya Power and Lighting Company PLC now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders
for KP1/6E.1/OT/11/22/BO3/LOT B – Procurement of 33kV & 66kV System Reinforcement &
Substation Upgrade.
Details of 33kV & 66kV System Reinforcement & Substation Upgrade are as tabulated below:

International Competitive Bidding (ICB) method with “Single Stage” Bidding Procedures will be
followed in accordance with the Bank’s rules & procedures on procurement of works.
3. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from the Contract Project Leader–

4. A complete set of Bidding Documents may be purchased by interested bidders upon submission
of a written application to the above said Executing Agencies (KPLC) upon payment of
a non-refundable fee of KShs.5,000.00 or equivalent in any freely convertible currency. The
bidding document will also be posted in the KPLC web site. The method of payment will be
direct payment in cash at the Addresses above or make arrangements for electronic receipt of
payments. The Banking details will be posted on the KPLC websites (http://www.kplc.co.ke)
5. The provisions in the Instructions to Bidders and in the General Conditions are the provisions
of the African Development Bank Standard Bidding Document for Procurement of Works.
Bids must be delivered to the office given hereunder at or before 10:00 a.m. East Africa Local
Time on (5th January, 2023) and must be accompanied by a bid security of amount indicated
in paragraph 3 above.
