Opportunity
Energising Development [EnDev] programme in Kenya, aims to mitigate market entry and development barriers affecting the adoption of solar technologies for Productive Use, Social Institutions in Kenya. Through this result-based reimbursement [RBR] facility it is envisioned that private sector actors will be motivated to adopt market-based models that mitigate market barriers affecting actors in the solar systems market segment leading to efficient and self-sustaining markets.
EnDev Kenya is therefore inviting organisations with operations in Kenya and promoting solar cooling appliances and systems that can be used in health facilities to respond to this Public Tender in Kenya by submitting an application to participate in the RBR facility.
Target companies
This opportunity targets Kenyan registered organisations operating in a market-based approach to promote, finance and install solar cooling equipment/appliances. Only solar cooling equipment/appliances that fulfil the prescribed criteria are eligible.
Eligibility criteria
Bidders must have existing capacity [knowledge, structures, capital and staff] to promote, finance and install proposed solar equipment and solar systems in the selected category. Bidders must have the capacity to collect and report data on their sales and customers to ensure that verification of sales & installation can be performed by a third party. Selected companies will be trained on the data collection tool by GIZ.
Bidding enterprises must provide the following statutory documents:
- Certificate of Incorporation/Registration Certificate in Kenya
- Business/Trading license
- CR12 Certificate
- Tax Compliance Certificate

To participate in this tender, interested bidders are required to send a blank email with tender reference: 83459318 in the subject line to KE_Inquiry@giz.de between 14.02.2024-19.02.2024. An email response will provide the relevant tender documents and application templates on 20.02.2024 ,thereafter no documents will be shared.
Bidders shall submit a signed and stamped filled-in application form and copies of required statutory documents in a sealed envelope clearly marked “Promotion of Solar Cooling Technologies” Tender No: 83459318 to the below address:
