THE DAIRY INDUSTRY ACT CAP 336 LAWS OF KENYA

REQUEST FOR COMMENTS ON THE DRAFT DAIRY INDUSTRY BILL, 2023

Under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, Dairy value chain is identified as a priority key socio-economic
enterprise in Kenya contributing an estimated 42%, 12%, and 4% of the livestock, agricultural, and national GDPs. Dairy is
a source of an estimated 750,000 indirect and 500,000 direct jobs. The industry also contributes significantly to National
Food Security and Nutrition and a big contributor to the Government Key Economic Pillars.
The Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development is in the process of reviewing the Dairy Industry
Act, Cap 336 of the Laws of Kenya in order to align it with the Constitution of Kenya and to address emerging concerns in
the Kenyan Dairy Industry.
In compliance with the provisions of the Statutory Instruments Act, No 23 of 2013, the Ministry announces to the public
the availability of the Draft Dairy Industry Bill, 2023 on their websites www.kilimo.go.ke or www.kdb.go.ke for access
and perusal.
You are further invited to participate in Public Participation sessions as per the schedule provided below.

written submissions addressed to the Managing Director, Kenya Dairy Board, to be received not later than fourteen (14)
days from the date of publication of this notice.
