EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

DEVELOPMENT, OPERATION AND MANAGEMENT OF ECOTOURISM FACILITIES

Kenya Forest Service (KFS) is a State corporation established by the Forest Conservation and Management Act (FCMA), 2016. The Service is mandated to conserve, develop and sustainably manage forest and allied resources for the social economic development of the country.

Development of programs for eco-tourism and recreational use of public forests is one of the functions bestowed upon KFS by the Act. Realization of the full ecotourism and related potential in public forests is a key non-extractive activity that KFS is embarking on in line with the Forests Act 2016, KFS Strategic Plan and Kenya Vision 2030.

KFS now invites eligible and interested private sector developers, well established community associations and other entities to express their interest in developing, operating and managing any of the following ecotourism facilities.

Interested and eligible developers should express their interest by providing their design concept, organizational profile, statutory documents (Certificate of Reg. / .Incorporation, PIN/VAT Registration, Tax compliance certificate, current CR12 & Catering levy), experience in managing similar tourist facility, capability statement in building sustainable ecotourism products and services, audited accounts for the last two years in addition to CVs of the investors and proposed key personnel.

In line with our corporate objectives, KFS is keen to establish the Corporate Social Responsibility or Community- related needs the proposed venture will meet and what the developer will specifically do to help protect the forest environment and support conservation efforts.

Following evaluation of the-Expression of Interest, shortlisted developers will be invited to participate in a formal tender whereby they will be required to submit detailed technical and financial proposal in a format that will be provided.
